About Me
ePortfolio
Welcome to my ePortfolio! On this website you will be following me along my journey as a graduate student in the MHST601 Course: Foundations of Health Systems in Canada. I will be using this platform to demonstrate my learning throughout the course and show my audience who I am in the world of health care.

I have an undergraduate degree in a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) with a specialization in Gerontology. Upon graduating from my studies I pursued a job in a nursing home as an Activity Aide where I got to work hands on with older adults who had a variety of complex health challenges including; dementia, mental health issues and addictions among other chronic illnesses. This job emphasized something I already knew prior to entering the field-that I wanted to help better our health care system and be an advocate for change.

Presently, I work as a Client Service Coordinator for Bayshore HealthCare in Home and Community Care while I pursue my graduate studies. I work in an administrative role as an unregulated health professional. My primary obligation as a coordinator is to handle and document prospective client inquiries regarding requests for community care services and schedule licensed and unlicensed filed staff accordingly.

My goal is to enrich my gerontological background, front-line experience and current role in health care through my studies in the course. I plan to become a part of health and long-term care in an administrative management role in order to create positive change in the Health and Long-Term Care Sector.

Please continue on to my blog and following pages to learn more about my current role within the health care system and how I identify as a health professional.

"Health care providers and administrators are the backbone of our health care system. They are trained to promote good health, to care for and comfort the sick, and to work to improve the delivery of health care (CIHI,2001)."
